Effective January 1, 2020, Christian Schubert (56), currently Vice President, Head of Berlin Office, will assume the newly created role Vice President, Corporate Government Relations, based in Berlin.
He will continue to act as Head of BASF’s Berlin Office and to report to Anke Schmidt, who has global responsibility for Corporate Communications & Government Relations at BASF.
Christina Gommlich (48), currently Senior Manager Economic Policy & International Networks, will become Deputy Head of the Berlin Office as of January 1, 2020.
Véronique De Waele (49), currently Head of Economic Policy & International Networks, will become Head of BASF’s Brussels Office effective January 1, 2020 and will report to Schubert.
Wolfgang Weber (52), currently Vice President, Communications and Government Relations Europe/EMEA and Head of Brussels Office, has decided to leave the company effective December 31, 2019.
Schubert studied as an industrial engineer and took a Master of Science in management in Berlin, Germany and Hoboken, New Jersey, before training as an attaché and assuming duties in the Economic Directorate-General of the German Foreign Office in Bonn.
Schubert subsequently worked for DaimlerChrysler Services AG in Berlin, before joining BASF in Ludwigshafen as head of Corporate Communications in 2001.
He moved to Hong Kong in 2008 as head of communications for BASF in Asia Pacific and has been responsible for the BASF’s Brussels office since 2015.
De Waele graduated with a degree in business administration and a masters in applied economic sciences in Belgium.
She joined BASF in 1994 and held various managerial positions in marketing and finance in Belgium, Germany and France in her first 13 years at the company.
De Waele then moved to BASF’s Brussels Office in 2007 as Senior Manager for trade and economic policy.
She has been Head of Economic Policy & International Networks since 2011.
Gommlich studied law in Mannheim, Germany, and received a doctorate in intellectual property law from that university.
She joined BASF’s Legal department as Legal Counsel in 2002 in Ludwigshafen.
Since moving to BASF’s Berlin Office in 2005, Gommlich has acted as Compliance Officer for the Corporate Communications & Government Relations unit in addition to her role as Senior Manager for trade and economic policy.
