On February 14, 2012, one of the world’s largest Epichlorohydrin (ECH) production plants was opened in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Thailand by Advanced Biochemical Thailand (ABT). The plant was started with a production capacity of 100,000t/yr and expanded to 120,000t/yr in 2020. Uniquely, ABT’s Epichlorohydrin has 100% bio-based carbon content from its renewable raw material, vegetable glycerine.

Over the last 10 years, ABT has developed its expertise in running stable operations and producing the highest quality product. With its strategic location, experience in raw material sourcing and logistics, and full integration with Chloro-vinyl units, the ECH plant supports ABT customers worldwide.

Mr Masaki Takahashi, Managing Director said: "We celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the ABT plant with gratitude for all the team members, customers and partners we have worked with. Advanced Biochemical Thailand (ABT) has proven its experience, its resilience and its position as a pioneer over the last decade. Still today, we manufacture best-in-class Epichlorohydrin for a wide range of applications.”

ABT’s Epichlorohydrin (ECH) is mainly used as a precursor to epoxy resins, with uses in protective coatings, electronic components, adhesives and advanced composite materials. Other applications include paper and water treatment chemicals, mild surfactants in personal care and fine chemical applications.
