After a lifetime in paint manufacturing HMG Paints’ Managing Director, John Falder is set to become the star of an art exhibition himself. The exhibition entitled "Paintings from a Lifetime of Paint” will open at the Oriel Ger Y Fenai Gallery in Anglesey, Wales on June 12 and showcase artwork produced by John.

Many artists will tell you that to understand painting, first you must understand paint and as a third generation paintmaker in Manchester at HMG Paints, and in Bethesda at Bradite and Little Greene, John has a vast knowledge having spent a lifetime crafting different paints.

This is his very first exhibition, his modesty overridden by this event having been arranged without his knowledge. On the exhibition John commented: "More than anything else, I want people to enjoy the pictures and let them speak to you of memories of the local area. My pictures are memories and stories mainly centred around Anglesey and Snowdonia. Each painting is inspired by a particular time, event and place and trying to capture a specific moment.”

The Oriel Ger Y Fenai Gallery exhibits the work of North Wales artists including the work of Sir Kyffin Williams, William Selwyn, Wilf Roberts, Philip Snow and many more. Visitors can visit the gallery to view the exhibition from 10am on Saturday, June 12.

The start of the exhibition will also align with John’s start in the paint industry. 2021 will mark John’s 45th year at HMG Paints and also a milestone 30 years as Managing Director of the family business, a position which he took over from his father Brian on June 17, 1991.
