Two years post the successful integration of Velox GmbH, IMCD Germany is consolidating its strategic presence in northern Germany with the opening of a new office in Hamburg’s Hafencity district.
"Opening a new office in the heart of Hamburg, was a logical step for us to be very close to the dynamic developments, current trends and innovative ideas in Germany’s most important trading centre," says Lars Wallstein, Managing Director of IMCD Germany.
The Advanced Materials business unit of the Cologne-based company now has its new headquarters in the Watermark Tower, the tallest building in Hamburg’s Hafencity district. However, experts from other business units such as Pharmaceuticals and Synthesis and Coatings & Construction are also based in Hamburg. This 750m² new office space offers 50 employees an exceptionally dynamic and innovative working environment.
With Europe’s third-largest harbour, the Hamburg metropolitan region is an important hub for international goods flows and home to many major market players in the chemical industry, logistics and trade. As a key location, Hamburg complements the German headquarters in Cologne as a strategic hub for topics such as digitalisation and business development. By investing in this new location, which offers long-term growth potential in many directions, the company aims to expand business relationships and attract new talent to respond to market needs faster.
IMCD has been operating in Germany for more than 25 years. Headquartered in Cologne and with offices in Hamburg and Freiburg, IMCD Germany has over 250 employees dedicated to serve the German chemical industry. It also operates four laboratories for application technologies in Coatings & Construction, Pharmaceuticals, Food & Nutrition and Home Care and I&I offering new product development and formulation support to its customers.
