Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals) has launched a redispersible polymer powder, Elotex HD2040, that will help customers producing dry-mix mortars for the building and construction market to meet the latest quality and sustainability requirements.

"Severe weather conditions and more stringent building and construction standards put higher demands on mortars used, for example, on facades and external thermal insulation composite systems,” said Srdjan Kisin, Marketing Manager Building & Construction at Nouryon.

"Elotex HD2040’s performance – especially its water and impact resistance – allows customers to meet technical test standards, which in turn contributes to improved durability and sustainability of commercial and residential buildings.”

Elotex HD2040 provides excellent water and humidity resistance without compromising on technical requirements for dry-mix formulations, such as adhesion or impact resistance.

Property owners will also benefit as it extends the lifetime of facades and takes away the need to repair or replace them.

Geert Hofman, General Manager Performance Additives, added: "I’m pleased we have already received very positive feedback from key target customers. It strengthens our offering and allows us to continue meeting our customers’ ever-increasing needs and grow with them.”

Nouryon recently expanded its offering to customers in the buildings and construction market with Bermocoll EBM 3000, an ingredient that optimises the performance of water-based multicolour paints used on building facades.
